IRCTC Central Railway Zone

Covering a large part of Maharashtra, some parts of Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, the Central Railway zone is one of the biggest of the 17 zones of Indian Railways. It is headquartered at CST in Mumbai. 

The Central railway zone was established in 1951. During that year, the zone was inclusive of the Nizam State Railway, the Scindia State Railway and the Great Indian Peninsula Railway.  

A few of the most popular routes in this central zone included Mumbai CST to Pune, Pune to Kolhapur, Mumbai CST to Nagpur and Thane to Vashi among others. The Central India Railway is responsible for all of the trains that operate within the central limits that are demarcated according to the Railway ministry of the country. Check train schedules 

Any sudden changes like delay on arrival or change of date is recorded and notified. Log on to, and enter in the train name or number. When you click on the tab called 'Get Schedule', you will receive the route number, arrival time, departure time, etc. 

Checking the train schedule is important as it helps in getting yourself a confirmed ticket way beforehand as well as booking it. Due to a large number of people using the site, it can prove to be quite hard for someone to get a ticket just a few days before they actually travel. Check seat availability 

To check availability, go to, enter either train number, journey date, source station code, destination station code. You can then click on the tab that says 'Get Availability' so that you can check if there are seats available for your journey.
