Roads are in excellent condition and pleasant

Jul 6, 2015
Mode of Transport: Taxi

The roads between the Ahmedabad and the Mumbai are in excellent condition. The surroundings of roads gives pleasant feeling. The Expressway goes directly from the Ahmedabad to Mumbai. On the way we stopped in a hotel for lunch. The hotel was clean and the food was of good taste and even affordable one.

Be careful with your oil tank it should be full

May 28, 2014
Mode of Transport: Car

Road journey was very comfortable. I started at 10.00 from Ahmedabad, had light snacks in Surat bypass & could reach Mumbai well before Sunset. Enroute, I did not fill my tank as I started with full tank but barely I could reach the hotel, I needed to refill which I did at Andheri below the bridge. Lot of construction work was going on there at that time.

Utterly smooth roads passing through nature's lap

May 17, 2015
Mode of Transport: Car

Mumbai and Ahmedabad are major cities, so the infrastructure connecting them is world class. Honestly speaking, we have never seen such huge well-maintained roads in our country.

Surrounding throughout the way is serene, should be explored in monsoon especially. This route has been an ideal location for shooting films. Recent blockbuster, Piku, is largely shot on the Ahmedabad - Vadodara Expressway.

Advice: Special provision for paying tolls should be made in the travel budget.

Super Duper Fun Drive For Driving Crazy

Jul 21, 2015
Mode of Transport: Car

We, a family of 5 started on this 500 Km + journey by our Swift VDI Diesel (Which had 1, 33, 000 Kms. On ODO) at 4 in the morning as we had a target time of 12 noon to reach Ahmedabad. The start was not as exciting as the entire road to Virar was marred with heavy traffic of trucks. To add on to this, there were a number of route diversions which ensured that we do not gather speed. However, once we were about 70 Km. From Borivali, traffic started reducing. Moreover, watching the first light of the day coming up was very exciting. We made the first halt after Vapi after about 150 Km or so. Post Vapi, the roads became less dense made driving loads of fun with speed on the right side of 100 for long. Our greatest concern was the stretch beyond Surat to Vadodara and particularly the Narmada Bridge. However, to our surprise, the stretch was what could be called a driver delight. There was some traffic near Narmada Bridge and before entering Vadodara highway, but post on the Narmada expressway, it was no stopping. We took out second halt just before Vadodara. We covered the entire journey of 500+ Kms. In 8. 5 hours (Including two stoppages for 1 hour) to reach Ahmedabad at 12:30. The fully loaded Swift VDI with 5 persons and loads of luggage on board was perfect for this drive and helped is clocking Kms. At ease, all of this in the sweltering heat of May.

One Journey that I would really cherish.
