Himachal Holidays Volvo - Worst experience, no help. Bus broke down.

Mode of Transport: Bus

My two cents. Don't travel in Himachal Holidays Volvo, if you would like to have peaceful holidays. Myself and family (with kids) booked tickets in this bus on 23rd May 2018 from Manali to Delhi. As per the notification, the bus is supposed to start at 4PM from Manali. The problem started from beginning. The bus did not start until 5:30PM. For the entire bus, there's only one attendee who's the driver. He is the same person checks the passengers, helps to load the bags in the basement compartment, drives the bus . All in all. I don't think this is allowed as per the RTO rules. Especially when the driving terrain such as Himachal where you find lot of hairpin curves and sharp turns and steep climbs. There was no one to guide the driver in these situations. Anyway . When I boarded the bus (4 passengers), we had four bags. Since the luggage space is less in the seating area, we thought to keep those in the bottom compartment. We always do that. However to my surprise the ‘all in all' person has charged Rs. 20/ per piece. I'm the one who kept the bag inside (not the bus employee). I have an option there, so abide with that. Once inside the bus, we find any seat number marked. Started counting from the first row manually and came to a consensus on the seat number !! There was blanket on the seat. It was disgusting to see the vomit stains and remains in it. It was really unhygienic. Once the bus started, there were noises coming from all over. It was an age old bus, which was making sound from every nick and corner. Thought of adjusting that too, as our prime aim is to reach Delhi and then connect to my flight to Bangalore . It might be around 1AM in the early morning. I felt that the bus was not moving and standing stationary. I got up and found that most of the passengers were in deep sleep. To my shock, found that the driver could not start the bus anymore. We were in the middle of nowhere. Slowly over the course of the time, most of us realized that we won't be able to continue our journey further in this bus. I tried calling the bus agency number, which is given in the ticket. But no one attended the call. Then all the passengers along with the driver started asking for the help with the oncoming traffic - either bus or van or car. Our only intention was to reach the destination safely and continue our journey further. At around 4:30AM we were able to get another ordinary bus going only up to Chandigarh (we were supposed to travel to Delhi). Finally we reached Chandigarh at 7:15AM. From there we had to book a taxi to Delhi (if we wait for other buses/trains we would miss our flight back to Bangalore). We were just in time to reach the airport for our onward journey. We were asked to contact the bus agency about the issue and get a refund of the ticket cost. Once back at home, I was trying all modes to get in touch with the bus agency and get the refund. There was no response after multiple contacts and finally once they attended the call and said they can't owner the claim. They said, the driver helped for alternate, which was completely wrong. I tried to explain this but ended in the deaf ears. This bus agency is cheaters and they display the sample photos of the nice buses on the website and provide all cheap buses and services. After all these pain during the travel, we ended up paying twice - once for this service, which they have not provided and two for the actual travel in different buses and taxis . I recommend all prospective passengers to check the review of the agency and book the buses appropriately. I don't want to anyone to land on my situation at an unknown place with family and children in the midnight. A big NO to Himachal Holidays Volvo.

Pathetic Bus and Services

Mar 30, 2016
Mode of Transport: Bus

First of all the Bus was very late. Moreover, they asked us to board the bus which was not Volvo when we asked them they said that we are sending you to a point from where you will get a Volvo. Volvo was also very late and it was not perfect. The Bus had some problem with it's brake. Imagine, a bus going on a hill station without proper brakes. It took us 16 hours on an 11 hours journey just because of the bus. Pathetic services.

An awesome bus

This bus is the best you can travel in for Manali. The drivers are too well-trained and they drive the bus like a airplane. I enjoyed the bus ride and kept my eyes closed all the time. Just kidding. Though if you wanna go to Manali then you should definitely go by this bus as its too far and this bus is too comfortable.

Bus provides full comfort with luxury

Jan 24, 2016
Mode of Transport: Bus

This trip to Manali was one of my best trips. I choose to go by HRTC bus in the month of December dated 22 dec to 26th dec. I chose to travel with my friends via semi deluxe bus and chose Volvo while returning. But I would recommend people to take the HRTC bus whose price is Rs. 1199. Don't choose the bus which costs Rs. 995 because this bus offers very congested seats and on the other hand Rs. 1200 bus provide full comfort with luxury.

In my 3 day trip I visited places like hadimba temple where I was fortunate enough that I was able to see a proper snowfall which provided a refreshing environment and a feeling never ever had. For skating kind of activities we visited Solang Valley which was fully covered with snow giving an ultimate feel of fun as you are able to play with snow. We had a visit to Manikaran gurudwara where we found a river whose half part is of hot water and half of cold water. That looks like some kind of miracle and when asked about the hot water from the native people they told me that the water is boiling at a temperature of 99 degree Celsius. So that was an ultimate fun when you're travelling and everywhere you are able to see ice and ice only.

Quite a few advices for travellers:

1. Travellers who want to go to rohtang pass at this time will get dissatisfied as it is closed in these months and open in June. And also people who want to go for adventure then a little bad news for them as the solang valley site came under the purview of government and they had banned every adventure activity. So if you want some adventure go to Kullu where you'll be able to do activities like river rafting, trekking etc.

2. While going to play with snow at solang valley take a dangri suit worth Rs. 250 from the shops in between the way to solang valley which will protect your original clothes from getting wet.

3. Take taxi while travelling to manikaran and solang valley as u will find comfort via travelling by taxi and it just costs around 20-30% extra than a normal bus.

4. Take as much heavy clothes as u can as in this time u are going to experience a lot of cold.

5. If you go than at least one time dine at johnson's lodge near mall road of manali as it is the best, a little costly but worth it.
