"Through the ghats"

We left at around 6 am from Bangalore. To wade through the traffic we took an hour. Once we hit the Naka Mangal flyover it was great. In like 2 hrs you would reach Hassan. The roads are amazing 4 lane. After Hassan you reach Sakleshpur. Slowly slowly the ghat starts. And to be honest it\'s fun to drive. It\'s a totally a different experience. The beauty of the ghats is best during the monsoon. Lush green with river flowing. Awesome view. Then once you cross the ghat you start hitting small villages and reached the Mangalore city. It\'s a fun ride for sure and takes around 5-7 hrs.

I went to Mangalore from Bangalore for an Official visit. I travelled through train and it was a pleasant and comfortable journey. I think it is Kannur Express. Train started on time and reached the destination on time. Bangalore City Junction is a good railway station. You have good facilities. Hotels are available. Information are given at various places.

"Quick check-in with perfect take-off & landing"

Entry to the airport was fine due to the exclusive counter available for my family through the Amex JetPrivilege card which otherwise would have taken much longer. Staff at the airport and the check-in counter were helpful and courteous. Security check will really take long time and that is the reason for which it is better to reach the airport much early. The flight left on time and landed 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Both take-off and landing were smooth and perfect.

The best mode of journey from Bangalore to Mangalore is by Car. Since we did not prefer the same, the next available option was the train where we found no reservations. Since, the road to Mangalore is a Ghat section, kindly opt for a Seater bus and not a sleeper one since the twists and turns along the way are hard to bear. The stop midway are okay for a late night dinner. Be careful to take a Avomine tablet before you board the bus since the ghats are narrow.

"Awesome route with newly laid roads"

It was an awesome drive, it would had been good, if we had proper lighting on the highways and that too on the hills. The turning towards Mangalore was not marked properly and most of the directions were in Kannada, I understand it is the local language, but government should understand that only locals are not travelling. It is for everyone, so either they can have English (which is a universal language), if not Hindi. Tourism generates funds not from locals but from outsiders, so they should understand that outsiders not necessarily may know the local language.

Sorry, we could not find preference of Travellers for this route.
