Jharkhand State Transport buses connect all cities and towns within the State. The services of buses provided by the Urban Development Department are being utilised under permits issued by the Regional Offices of Transport Department in big towns such as Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad. Buses are also available from district headquarters to tribal areas within Jharkhand.
JSRTC: Popular Bus Routes
JSRTC buses connect Ranchi to other parts of Jharkhand. Regular bus services are available to Kolkata and other neighbouring states. Apart from the JSRTC, Bihar State Road Transportation Corporation buses also ply regularly in Patna, Rourkela, Jamshedpur and Siwan. 70 buses operate in Ranchi and Dhanbad, while 50 buses operate in Jamshedpur under the JNNURM programme.
Government and privately operated buses link many states such as Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Orissa. Luxury Mercedes buses are also available from Ranchi to Gaya and Patna.
