Life time ride to see the vally and canyons

Aug 24, 2015

The ride from Pahalgam to Sonamarg was really one of its kind. The roads are not big enough. Hardly two buses can pass through. And there are no railing so weak hearten don't seat next to window. But for the person who want to see amazing scenery, picturesque mountains touching sky and deep down valley and canyons. This is trip for you.

We are family of 17 gone there by mini bus. The distance between two is roughly 31 km but but we enjoyed it thoroughly. There are some army base camps, some small restaurant come in the way and tea stalls. So for roadside food lovers you have must go there.

I even think of riding by bike there as place is just too much beautiful.

Lucky to get a seat

Apr 9, 2014

I had no plans to travel to Leh. After reaching Kargil, and meeting up with new found friends, an impromptu plan was made to go to Leh. Lucky for me the bus did have a seat empty (the very seat I came to Kargil on). The journey was a lot different from the first leg, with now a barren desolate landscape covering our views compared to the snow from the previous day.

Bus to Leh Is Worth Taking!

Apr 9, 2014

The buses can be booked from the JKSRTC ticket counter near the Dal Lake. It is best if you can book the tickets a day before. The bus ride takes you through nefarious roads, even the slightest of wrong pedal movement, is a sheer vertical drop. Even with these challenges, the bus ride is definitely worth every 'fearful' penny though.

A ride through the valley

Apr 9, 2014

The road to Pahalgam crisscrosses the Kashmir Valley and passes through some amazing scenery. The best one of them being almost a half a kilometer long Green Tunnel. Trees have covered the road and no light crosses through and that acts like a dark tunnel. The experience of that stint was amazing.
