I used the Club One coach of Eagle Travels to travel by road from Mumbai to Rajkot. The ticketing was easy with online purchase enabling me to buy the expensively priced ticket which is discounted 5% if one books online. The boarding point at Andheri is a small shack and on reaching there I realised the bus would be late for the day. After a very long wait, we were herded into another bus and taken to Borivali. The Club One coach which is done up to match air craft interiors and carry limited number of passengers is difficult to repair and was on maintenance that day. More than 2 hours behind schedule, the bus arrived at Borivali and took us passengers in. The bus has two hostesses to take care of the guests. It also has a washroom which is a novelty. Each passenger is provided with a personal LCD monitor and a choice of music and movies to enjoy during the journey.
I could watch two movies from the selection during the journey. Hot meals are provided enroute apart from water and a soft drink. The seating comfort is very high as each seat is almost like a first class air craft seat. However, the noise level inside the bus due to air conditioning and the engine is very high and not conducive to sleep. One is not able to cut off light from one's seating area due to the reflection from monitors of other passengers and that is a downside. The washroom is very tiny and the flush is poorly located and designed. Sleep quality can be very poor due to the noise and light inside and the bumpy ride- though the national highway is used, the road has too many obstructions and causes a rough ride. With a fare that is almost triple that of a normal bus, one would expect a comfortable journey. The bus operator needs to work on the comfort level to make this service popular. The staff are not very well-trained and the driver (spare) can be found sleeping at the back on the floor. Drivers should be provided proper sleeping facility in the bus.
