On the 33rd day i. E. 14th day of Oct 2015 of our K2 K ride, me and wife reached Kodaikanal. We were taken to Hotel Wood Palace by Mr. Joe. The hotel is on the Bear Shola Water falls Road at a walking distance from The Lake and The Bryant Park. As soon as we entered the hotel we fell in love with the hotel. Traditional wood furnishings beautifully done. We got a front room with balcony in wooden block. They have one more block where the flooring tiles are used. The room was very beautiful and is like as it appears in photos. They have a children's play area too. The restaurant was not running to it's full capacity probably due to off season. This is the only area which I would recommend them for improvement otherwise we had a wonderful stay there. Staff were very good. They are not greedy type one tea kettle was broken by monkeys due to our negligence I offered them to pay for it but they refused straight away. Mr. Swamy guided us for local sightseeing. Mr. Selvraj Swamy and Mr. Sudhir need special mention. Would like to stay there again if get a chance in future and will recommend to my friends. Room Tip: Get a room in Wooden Block with a balcony on the first floor.
I had a great experience staying in Hotel Wood Palace. The manager and staff members were very friendly. The facilities were very good. If at all you need to have a private cab to roam around Kodaikanal, you could ask the hotel manager, he would arrange for you at a nominal rate. As we went it off season we got better discount to stay in this hotel with morning tiffin as complementary. The only short fall of this restaurant is sometime you may have problem with hot water to take bath. But you could ask the service boy, they would assist you with hot water.
Stay was pleasant. Fine view. Good service. Cab service to be improved. Camp fire to be encouraged. If any sightseeing is provided in a nominal package comfort will further be enhanced. You can advertise in websites, put some near lake, bus stand is fine. You can participate in local programmes like conducting medical camp, blood donations, aids awareness so that social contribution will be there. Why don't you consider some discount. To medical fraternity like drs, reps, executives?
