Relaxing stay & awesome food

6.0/7
Posted 28 Jan, 2016

It was a quick plan for a Christmas outing to Coorg and almost every resort/homestays were full. Luckily we got accommodation in Serene Homestay. We were a group of 3 couples with 3 kids and we had our own apprehensions as it was a hurried call. But upon reaching Serene Homestay we were relaxed and excited Even if it was December, weather was dry and warm. But the travel through Nagarhole National Park was scenic and we enjoyed every bit driving through the forest. The homestay is located inside a huge coffee estate and we were impressed at the maintained property. The rooms including the bathrooms were clean. There was a small kids play area where kids enjoyed a lot. Apart from that there is a small basket ball court. But the highlight was the small stream down the property and we including kids enjoyed a lot playing in the cold freezing water. The walk through the mud road going down to the stream through the coffee estate was rejuvenating. We reached the homestay afternoon and planned to go to Iruppu falls in the evening, but just preferred staying back in the homestay relaxing The dinner was splendid and they served more than enough which we could have. The host already took our preference and we preferred the local flavor with the Coorg special pork curry, which was indeed splendid and we devoured every bit of it. Next day breakfast too was good We wanted to spend more time in homestay, but our travel plan was packed so we had to leave the homestay after breakfast. For our next visit to Coorg for sure, we will not add anything to our itinerary just a relaxing stay at Serene Homestay A must visit and stay in Coorg.

Excellent service and very good stay

5.9/7
Posted 8 Feb, 2017

I travelled to Coorg in the month of January 2017. It was holiday trip. I really liked the destination it was good, as I liked the Idukki waterfalls. My location of the hotel was excellent, while it was surrounded by coffee and tea estate. The appearance of the hotel was very good, since it was neat. The front office at this hotel was very good, as the staff were friendly and hospitality was good. I booked it online through website. Overall services at this hotel were excellent, as staff were responsive, quick to attend us, hospitality was good and they prepared us whatever we asked which was not there in menu also. The room at this hotel was very good, since it was very spacious with all amenities in working condition. The buffet provided at this hotel was good in taste, they provided complimentary breakfast. There was campfire in the hotel. I would suggest the management to provide WiFi facility. Overall stay at this hotel was very good.

I had been to Coorg in the month of January 2017 and stayed in the Serene Homestay. It was my holiday trip with family. I would rate the destination as average. The hotel location was very good as it is nearest to the market place. I would rate the appearance of the hotel as average. Hotel front office was very good as they will respond quickly with appropriate information. I booked my room direct at hotel. I would rate the services in the hotel were good because of availability of service. The hotel room was average. The food in the hotel was very good because we can get fresh and tasty food.

Overall experience was good at this hotel. I had been to this hotel in the month of January with family for holiday visit. The destination was excellent as falls were good. Location of this hotel was very good since it was located in the middle of beautiful coffee estate. I travelled to this hotel by own car. The appearance of the hotel was excellent because it was very clean. The booking and front office was very good since the host Navya and Prakash are very nice. It was like a home stay. The services given by the staff were excellent since they were attentive, excellent food services and helpful. The room was excellent as it was maintained well with required amenities in good condition. They provided varieties of food hence I would like to rate it as very good since the taste and quality was good. The activities like bourn fire, outdoor games were good. Overall experience was good at this hotel.

Awesome stay with all the facilities

5.4/7
Posted 15 Jan, 2016

Initially I was little hesitant to book this hotel, but during the stay the hesitation turned into anxiety and curious 1. Food: food is excellent and most importantly it was healthy. Two dishes never tasted before was the highlight of the dinner. The dinner you can't differentiate what style it was like north Indian, south Indian etc. To start with there was a starter, then chapati and a typical south Indian food (rice, sambar, rasam and curd) and to end with a dessert (non-veg was served on request as we were vegetarian we didn't order it). Oh almost forgot to mention about breakfast. We were served with bread, butter, jam and another south Indian tiffin (omelette was also available on request). Mornings and evenings we were served with tea and milk (for my 3 yr old son) and they were great 2. Room: room was well decorated. Bed, bed sheet, pillows were in good condition and good aroma due to the surroundings. It sounds crazy but would easily rate the full marks for bathroom because of its cleanliness and hygienic 3. Hospitality: navya who is the incharge and owner who helped and guided us even before we reached there. Any time we need anything we were served with a smile 4. Play area: there were small play area for kids where my children enjoyed a lot. There was a swing made of tyre (yes heard it right its a black tire of vehicle) were my elder son never got down from it as it was a different experience to him. The main attraction to the play area was the tree house. I have been to many hill stations but never saw a tree house. My sons initially were scared but later enjoyed a lot by getting up and down. Last but not least, there were basket ball pole for both adults and kids (small) and carrom to play in the night 5. Picnic places: irupu falls just 7 kms away was great, joyful and enjoyed a lot by bathing in the falls. Down the falls, there is a small place which was great to take photographs 6. Highlight: there is a small stream which belongs to the serene homes was the highlight of all. More than the falls, my kids enjoyed a lot by playing and bathing in the stream. My little son was enjoying the most of all in the stream. I don't have to worry about my sons enjoying in the stream as the water flow was mild and not dangerous If I want to go to a place just to relax like having fun, playing with my kids, having food and sleep, then serene homes will be on top of my list.

Home away from home

6.5/7
Posted 26 Dec, 2015

Situated in a beautiful coffee estate in a small town called Kutta in Coorg district, Serene homestay is a home away from home. Its an ideal location for a medium size group of 12-15. That is because if you have that size group, you will get the whole homestay for yourself Big courtyard in front of homestay which serves as car parking, short pitch cricket ground (they provide you with bat and ball), basketball court (basket ball is provided) and probably as coffee drying yard at some point of the year. Extremely courteous hosts. Owners will receive you themselves and take care of all your needs. Everything that they can Clean rooms, clean toilets, clean bed sheet, clean pillow covers, clean towel and clean blankets add to the extremely good experience of staying here. To top it you have extremely comfortable mattress and pillows. Hygienic and tasty food that doesn't go heavy on your stomach. And they have power backup as well Everything is great except for one. They don't provide lunch and the town doesn't have much options. So, incase you have kids and elderly people with you, do make some arrangements for them. You can try requesting the owners and most certainly they might oblige Anyone who stays here should go down to the private stream that flows through the coffee estate. Also you should visit Irpu falls which is 8 kms from the homestay. If you can, walk to the falls from homestay. Walk is amazing as you almost see half of the town, inhale fresh air and get to take some amazing photos. To top it all there is almost no traffic Buy fresh wines and honey from the town market. Extremely good honey at 3/4th the price of big brands Haven been here twice in last 1 year and if given a chance, I would go again. Best time to visit according to me is towards the end of monsoon.

Serene homestay to experience the real serenity

7.0/7
Posted 3 Dec, 2013

Their hospitality beats even the 5 star hotels. Really nice and helpful people. The sumptuous breakfast and dinner will stay in your mouth. We were asked for the choice of non veg food. Plenty of chicken, mutton, fish were provided for dinner(we could not even finish half). The breakfast was delicious. The property has a small stream where you can take Bath and spend the whole day. Take a walk around the coffee estate. Its a piece of heaven. The rooms were clean, well maintained. Visit Serene homestay to experience the real serenity !.

By far the best homestay we visited so far

6.9/7
Posted 10 May, 2016

I was looking for a quick getaway and I was constantly hunting for suitable options. One of my colleague's suggested to try Serene Homestay. I immediately booked and was hoping that I will be able to enjoy the holiday with my family. We had gala time in the homestay, great food, fantastic hospitality, superb hosts, simple but perfect amenities and to top it all very clean environment. I would definitely recommend this place to those who wants to get away from the city rush and want to spend some peaceful time with their loved ones. I would request the hosts to introduce lunches in the afternoon as well at extra host to complete the icing on the cake. Note:. 1) Lunch is not provided so you will have to go fetch the same yourselves in the nearby restaurants (Cafe Robusta and few hotels in Kutta village area). Costs are on the moderate side but not good ambience. Food was okay though. 2) There is a small stream nearby to the homestay (300mtrs far), do not miss this place but do avoid going very early or late evening as wild animals visit this stream for water. 3) You will be provided with a soap and towels, you will have to remaining sanitary stuff. 4) Even though there was a TV in the common area it was not functional (I won't complain though)

Good location, awesome food

6.9/7
Posted 15 Oct, 2013

Me and my Wife always wanted to visit Coorg from a long time until September 2013, when it finally happened. To add to the fun- two of my friends who got recently married also joined in so we were 3 couples. Being an adventure lover myself, I wanted to do White water river rafting and that was my main agenda for this trip and my wife wanted only sight seeing. Serene Homestay is the best bet for both - Coorg White water river rafting is close by to the Homestay and also lots of Sightseeing locations nearby including Brahmagri and Iruppu Falls, Nagarhole National park, Waynadu Frest and so on. Of course it is far from Madikeri and tibetan Monastry. However we covered all of Coorg . . Serene Homestay is situated between 50 acres of Lush green woods. Mainly Coffee Plantations around. There is a very nice Basketball court in front of the house. You can have a nice warm up in the morning and then you can have a walk down the woods to see a beautiful stream of water flowing. That was so nice that we all entered into the stream (so chilling) and played for a while :). I know this is tempting for anyone to pack your bags. But wait. Theres More: the Owner Prakash and Navya were so, took care of us and made our stay an ever memmorable experience. The food is awesome and YUMMY. The rooms are neat and bathrooms are very clean. They have room housecleaning everyday (no extra charges). For me. It was much worthier than staying in a hotel and missing out the chance to Experience the nature I am Certainly coming back to Serene next year Kudos to Prakash and Navya.

Serene place with comfortable stay & best food

6.0/7
Posted 28 Sep, 2015

This is the third time we are visiting Coorg. We visited in the middle of July 2015, best time with incessant rains, drenching the Western Ghats, resplendent with Greenery, surrounded by Forests, Coffee/Tea Estates, Full flowing Cauvery River This is the first time we are staying in Serene Homes and the best ever so far in our case. From the time we started our journey from Bangalore, Navya had been on the call inquiring throughout, about our safe journey to Serene Homestay (Which is in interior South Coorg). Approach roads throughout has been quite good barring very small patches. Prakash greeted us personally as soon as we reached the HS, in the night and they had made all arrangements for our comfortable stay This place is in the midst of a Coffee Estate (advisable to use Google Navigation to get there). Approach drive through forest on one side and estates on the other is also enjoyable, frequented by Elephants. In fact we had a sighting of Elephant crossing the road on our approach to Serene Homes in the night Rooms were spacious enough to accommodate 7 of us, clean and comfortable. Very responsive servants. Variety, quality and taste of food was excellent. Water Rafting places is nearby (approx. 20-30 minutes by drive). Nice Rafting experience with family and friends. Initially some of us had hesitation but, with trained professionals, the experience was awesome and memorable. Looking forward for more such outings Special thanks to Prakash, his friend Dilip and Water Rafting Nitin and team for their help when we had some issues with our vehicle Last but not the least, friendly dog BuddyA┬Ł, loved especially by kids. Overall the entire stay was very nice. Prakash and Navya hospitality was excellent in the true tradition of famed Coorg hospitality. Highly recommended.
