Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden, Mysore
Krishnaraja Sagar Mysore
Our stay here was very relaxed and enjoyable one. With the Garden at our disposal for enjoying the view, walk along the flowers and the fountains, it turned out to be a most memorable holiday.
We spent the new years eve at Royal Orchid at Brindavan Gardens near Mysore. The main USP of the Hotel as mentioned in several other reviews is the Brindavan Gardens and the KRS Dam. The building itself is old and colonial. All rooms face the gardens and it seems the idea of the architects was very much evident that the residents should be able to take in as much of the magnificent scenery as possible during their stay. The property is well maintained. It may not have all the gadgetry as seen in a newly constructed property but one must not lose sight of the fact that it is a heritage building which must have been built in the pre independence era. The facilities are good for a hotel of its rating and the property is maintained spick and span. Rooms are well equipped and good. Any room can be preferred depending on the budget as all of them face the gardens as mentioned earlier. Food: The buffet on offer for the New Year's Eve left a lot to be desired. The variety was not much or tasty and it was a bit disappointing. New year program was more of a hype than anything else. The DJ's seemed to be amateurs and were quite directionless. The choice of music was quite pathetic and it was left to the guests to create pockets of entertainment. Breakfast seemed to be more organised with a mix of continental and Indian cuisine. The service though was good and the staff quite attentive and responsive to the requirement of the guests. This place can be visited at any time of the year given the fantastic weather of Mysore and surrounding areas. This place is very suitable for unwinding after a very stressful period as the scenery really soothes the mind.
Good getaway location from Bangalore, close to Mysore city to see local sights. . You actually do not have to go to Mysore (you can take a deviation to the right just after Srirangapatnam). The Brindavan Gardens styled after the classical Mughal Gardens are maintained well but be prepared for large crowds if you are planning to take a wall at night when illuminated. Morning are a lot better, you have the whole park to yourself. The hotel itself is old heritage property restored with modern amenities but retaining some of the old charm.

We stayed @ Royal orchids in Sep\'09 for 2 nights 3 days. We did our booking online. It was a little difficult to locate the hotel as we were in unfamiliar territory and traveled by our own car. It\'s beautifully located adjacent to KrishnaSagar Dam and the famous Brindavan Gardens. You need to pay the Rs. 20 fee per person at the Hotel gate as you have unlimited access to Brindavan Gardens. The hotel staff is extremely polite. It hardly took us 3 minutes to check in. For anyone who can not climb stairs, there are no lifts. Make sure you inform in advance to get ground floor rooms. The hotel is beautiful and so are the rooms. Gorgeous Royal looks. Our bathroom was bigger than my actual bedroom back home. The Food wasn\'t very expensive but yes there wasn\'t much variety. Most guests that I saw were foreigners. If you are looking for a calm and beautiful location for a weekend getaway, it\'s the best. You can see the dam from the back garden of the hotel. There is no access to the Dam anymore due to security reasons. Every night between 7 and 8 pm, the Brindavan Garden lit up and so does the Hotel making it a mesmerizing view. It\'s quite cool at the hotel because of it\'s strategic location. I will for sure visit the place again, hope you guys too. Trust me, you wont regret the decision. Just peace of mind and beautiful view.
First of all Hotel is located on banks of Mysore's Famous KRS Dam, means no question about early morning & evening scenic view. Even though far away from City, Worth to spend a day or two here. Good Food, Good Staff. Nice Room options; just royal like you can play golf inside your room, with small golf pitch mat, isn't it interesting. Just be there for one day & you'll recommend for many. Best time to visit, after raining season around December.
