I have always preferred KSTDC locations to stay wherever available. Compared to Madikeri, this place is cheaper and also a very good property. It's 65 acres, not many would have taken a walk in the property. Let me tell you, they have maintained the park very well and it's a very good place for you and your family to relax. The view is also amazing. Preferred food is vegetarian, though non veg is a part of the menu, I suggest you skip eating non-veg here. Staff are very helpful and customer friendly.
Colonial building has been converted to a hotel The hotel does not have a pool but large gardens of the Horticultural department surround the hotel like you have your botanical garden of your own and need not visit the Ooty botanical garden. The boat house is at a 5 mins walk. Food served is Indian and continental. Choices are limited but the dishes served are very delicious. Service is prompt. Manager is very helpful and arranged us a car for the nearby avalanche forest trip as well as return journey from Ooty to Bangalore at a reasonable price. Normal cable Tv and not a LCD one is provided in the room, though the dinning hall has an LCD Tv. The suite room is furnished with furniture of the British period, so stay in this room if you really want a British Raj era feel. Other rooms are furnished with modern furniture. We stayed for the first day in a deluxe room and then shifted to the suite rooms.
In the month of January 2017 I stayed in this hotel. It was a holiday trip with my family. I would rate the destination as excellent; I liked the almost all places in Mysore. My hotel location was excellent as everything was available and area was calm. The appearance of the hotel was excellent since it was well painted and very clean. I would rate the front desk as excellent as they gave very good service and I booked it directly. The room was neat because it was clean but need to be improved in amenities. Room service was excellent as it was very prompt. I would rate the food as average as we did not tasted it. Sightseeing was good and they guided us well. They do not provide hot water for twenty four hour so I would suggest them to provide water for twenty four hours. Overall, experience was good at this hotel.
After my previous stay in Hotel Mayura Valley View Madikeri, I decided to again choose Hotel Mayura thinking all KSTDC hotels are located at scenic places. To my surprise this too was having a awesome garden in front of hotel. Rooms are average because its a modified heritage building. The garden in front of this hotel is million times better compared to botanical garden and Sims park. They are renovating the garden too to make it even more beautiful. You will be tired to take a walk full circle in garden because its freaking that big. Manager Mr. Suresh is very helpful and will make sure you have a wonderful stay. The cook Mr. Kumar will cook yummy and spicy food he makes sure it is served on time. I will never forget their hospitality in treating customers. All 3 days it was like a homely stay for me and my wife. When I visited it was off season and hotel renovation work was under way so I felt difficult in locating this hotel but after calling manager Mr. Suresh, he guided the direction so that I can reach without any problem.
I travelled Ooty place with my couple for relaxation purpose in August 2013 in package and stayed in Hotel Mayura. Hotel structure and design from outside and inside was beautiful. I did not take any food inside the hotel. Activities were nil in the hotel. Room was spacious and proper furnished. They did provide TV, AC, bed, geyser, blanket, activities in the room. Beautiful view was visible from the room. Ooty as a tourist place is beautiful destination for outing. Hotel surrounding was peaceful. Billing and booking process was perfect. Overall services were decent. They did provide welcome drink. This hotel is recommendable and worth money paid.
