Top Waterfront Destinations in India

It is scientifically recognised that water has a calming effect on the human psyche. Doctors of yore prescribed a vacation by the oceanfront as a remedy from exhaustion and stress. Today society is built on professions which are target-oriented and is one of the leading causes of chronic stress. There are a number of waterfront destinations in India and through this space we hope that you are able to zoom in on an idyllic water destination for you to recover in. Goa is what comes to most people's mind when you hear 'waterfront in India' and the city lives up to its reputation as the top waterfront destination in India. Goa is home to numerous beaches which have a reputation of being the party hot-spot in India. The beaches in Daman and Diu are similar to the beaches in Goa, in that the white sands, colonial architecture and a number of catholic churches as heritage sites. Daman and Diu also boasts of water themed parks which provide wholesome entertainment for the entire family. Kerala is home to many waterfront resorts in India. Vembanad Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia and houses a number of waterfront properties. Another popular waterfront destination is Hogenekkal Falls located in Tamil Nadu on the river Cauvery. Some of the activities at Hogenekkal include boating can also visit the Mettur Dam and Melagiri Hills which are home to some rare species of birds like the Egyptian vulture and honey buzzard. Raichak, situated 50 kilometres from Kolkata, on the banks of River Hoogly is yet another waterfront destination that should not be missed. For those of you with a fondness for the cold, you can plan a trip to Dal Lake in Srinagar. You can enjoy rides on houseboats, swim in the crystal clear water of the lake and hire a shikara to view the Mughal gardens.
