The cab travel helped us going around places at our convenience. Road travel was also good as the road was partly NH and partly SH. \r\nThe total length of the journey was 5 hours from Pune, due to heavy traffic. We took breaks at every 2 hour intervals. Midway, near Narayangaon, there was a place called Bota. There was a Cafe Coffee Day for coffee lovers with nice ambience. Another 5 KMs away from Coffee Day was another restaurant - Vittal Kamat. The place has huge parking area, well maintained with excellent facility for a few minutes break from driving.\r\nVariety of food items - South Indian, North Indian, Punjabi etc and choice of beverages available at moderate cost.\r\nVittal Kamat has a chain of restaurants and their Nasik restaurant also very good.\r\nWe never knew the various ...Read More

      "You'll get good scenic views"

There are 2 or 3 routes but most of them is through the main highway. You'll get good scenic views of hills and tiny waterfalls and clouds by the way during post-monsoon period. There are many nice Dhabas and other small food outlets by the highway, some of which prepare good fast food and main course. On the way, there's a route to Bhimashankar Temple - one of 12 Jyotirlings of Lord Shiva. So try to make time and visit it if you're a religious kind. Please note that while returning during evenings and late evenings the highway gets jammed due to long traffic flow.

The road was too small, single road with heavy traffic but road condition was not bad. Could not speed the car. There were petrol pumps available from time to time. No problem for food or tea. Need to improve the road on both the ways as heavy traffic on both side. No driving comfort because of single road.

Pune-Nasik via the regular Narayangaon, Sagamner, Sinnar etc. is a hell of a road with 6 ghats, non-divided road and heavy traffic which can take anywhere between 5-6 hours or sometimes more. I just heard the other route Pune-Kalyan-Nasik is a the better route with less driving strain and one can reach within 4-5 hours even though the distance is approximately 55kms longer.

      "Road via Panvel is fantastic"

While going as well as while coming back I took road via Panvel and both times it took me only 4.5 hrs to reach. The normal Pune-Nasik road takes minimum 6 hrs due to single road and traffic. Road via Panvel is fantastic provided you don't get stuck up on Panvel - Kalyan route. Here also I took bypass road and avoided entering Kalyan city which helped me a lot.
