Mode of Transport: Car

You should drive yourself to experience it. But remember while your way back to Pune start not later than 2 pm. Heard that the ghat section is not safe after sunset. Take your time and enjoy the drive, don't be in a hurry. Take time to stand on the way and have nice moments with your companions.

Roads are not good by tamhini ghat

Oct 27, 2015
Mode of Transport: Bus

Its poor experience of travel by tamhini ghat.We choose traveller by rent. There are very few hotels available by this road so we choose another option for return journey by pali. Keep food and water bottles with you because no guarantee of weather change. Bus seats are in good condition.

Recommend to start at 8 am or so and take few breaks and reach by 12 noon

Mode of Transport: Car

Pune to Diveghar is just 150 kms from Chandani Chowk. I recommend to start at 8 am or so and take few breaks and reach by 12 noon directly at Prasad Restaurant at Srivardhan. That restaurant has ample of parking space. The mutton thali as well as fish preparations are excellent. Shivardhan beach is awesome. If you reach on week day, one may not see anyone at all. The beach is clean. The area on the beach has place to sit. Dust bins kept on side and paid wash rooms are available. However the approach road from Prasad to beach is horrible. I recommend to eat at Prasad and then take coastal road to Diveghar. This 20 minute journey is best part of the drive. You are driving watching the sea for 20 min or so.

Diveghar is awesome. Absolutely virgin beach. Huge and clean. Great food available. Lots of veg and non-veg options. If you reach on weekday, you will hardly see anyone. If you wanna avoid rush and crowd, best is to visit during weekday rather than weekend. Suvarna Ganesh gives good food, however it was very spicy. Ranes restaurant food is fantastic. Solkadi, Thali, fish fry, prawns fry are perfect. Had breakfast at Kshiteej holiday. Amboli was excellent, the best I ever had. I even took walk in one acre of supari plantation. Overall food is cheap and did not find expensive at all.
Drive back to Pune is quite comfortable. Had heard that Tamini ghat is dangerious. However I found that ghat to be quite kool. The roads are excellent. Drive in day light and avoid traveling after sun sets.

Distance- 150 approx from Chandani Chowk. Driving time-4 hours with 2 short breaks
Road- Excellent. Route- Chandani chowk- Mulsi-Nizambad-Mangaon-Mhasala-Diveghar.

Mode of Transport: Car

Mangaon to Diveagar road quality is not good but can be managed. Tamhini Ghat road has some 8-10 km which was very bad patches but other was good. Mangaon to Diveagar road is not good in between so prepare for some back breaking. Take Dagadi Pool Rd and Nyaymurti Ranade Path in Shivajinagar.

Head east toward Laxmi Rd 110 m then turn left onto Laxmi Rd 110 m. Turn left onto Dagadi Pool Rd
280 m and continue onto Dengale Bridge Rd 190 m. Continue straight 230 m then turn left onto Nyaymurti Ranade Path 300 m.

Take MH SH 114 to Ganeshkhind Rd in Revenue Colony
1 min (600 m), continue on Ganeshkhind Rd. Take Pashan Rd to Mulshi Rd/Paud Rd in Bavdhan
22 min (12.2 km), continue on Mulshi Rd to Mangaon, 2 h 5 min (100 km).

Take the 2nd right onto SH-97. Pass by Dr Vaz Hospital (on the right), continue to Mhasala Rd 5 min (4.7 km). Continue on Mhasala Rd to your destination in Diveagar
27 min (16.7 km).

Enjoyed a decent drive

Jan 21, 2014
Mode of Transport: Car

To avoid Tamini Ghat, we hit the Pune-Mumbai express way and took Pali road from Khopoli exit. While returning, we came via Pen road to express way. In my view, you should take Pen road and don't worry about extra Km as you will save fuel and time on Pen road. I wanted to avoid ghats on my way, but could not avoid Mhasala ghat which has few narrow Z turns. If driving self, take a car above 1000 cc for easy driving on this ghats. Next time if I visit Diveagar, I will take Pen-Alibagh-Diveagar road to avoid Tamini and Mhasala ghats. I don't like to drive on ghats.
