The bus was on time and we got into the bus. It was understood with previous experience that bus operator will take much time till he get his seats full if not done online. But unexpectedly we are on our actual way in very less time. May be bus was mostly full online and only few seats are vacant so it did not took much time. But yes they were just taking few passengers from pick up points and then they swap their buses at Thane, but time taken was negligible. But when we got into the bus the condition of seat was damn bad. They are covered with dust and when you carry a small child you need to take care of dust as they might get allergic to dust. It was so badly covered that if you pat your hand on seat you could not just smell it but see it in the air. We have to instruct our ch ...Read More

The journey form Mumbai to Shirdi takes 5 hours of drive, that may vary depending upon the traffic situation. Now for that 5 hour drive we plan such that we get minimum traffic such as leave early in the morning, you get less traffic, have breakfast on the highway dhabas. There are many dhabas on the way to shirdi and they serve their food in their native way and that is worth trying it. On the way you get to see beautiful lakes between the mountain, wind mills rotating in the cool breeze and curvy roads to drive on. The journey becomes even better with good friends, music and cool weather.

"Five hours drive on Eastern Express Highway"

Shirdi is about 280 km from Mumbai. We left in the afternoon and reached there in 5 hrs. Roads are fine, getting out of Mumbai is what takes time. Once on the Eastern express highway things are better. There are 3 tolls that you would cross, post the last one there is a bypass from Gothi Village which cuts across and takes you to Shirdi, you need not go thru Nashik. This road for the first 10 to 15 km was not good, had a rough ride. Then had a good run for about 60 km and the last 10 km is bad as well. I would recommend to go via Nashik, it would be 30 odd km or more but a better ride. I came back via Nashik. Had lunch at Panchavati Hotel and then moved on to the highway back to Mumbai. Return trip took 6 hrs due to the 1 hr halt at Nashik.

Well the road journey with own conveyance is always good. We enjoyed the journey as it was raining lightly. The greenery and scenic beauty at the ghats was very amazing. The highway route was also good except some areas. If a group of 5-7 people, it is advisable to travel by car.

"Car ride to Shirdi"

Travel to Shirdi by car is a very nice experience. The Mumbai-Nasik highway is good, though at places the tolls seem excessive especially in Thane as the roads are pathetic. However, once you are on the \"real\" highway things get much better. From Igatpuri we usually take the inner road via Ghoti to Sinnar thus avoiding the heavy traffic in and from Nasik. That road is also pretty much ok - though in a need for repairs at some places. From Sinnar to Shirdi again the travelling experience is nice.

Sorry, we could not find preference of Travellers for this route.
