Adventurous drive and the roads were dark in forest

Jul 11, 2015
Mode of Transport: Taxi

We had hired a Scorpio from Zoom Car from Bangalore. The drive to Gokarna turned to be very adventurous when thought of deviating from the NH and taking a shorter route, that the GPS suggested would get us to Gokarna an hour earlier. The alternative route was through many villages. It was dark and the distance between 2 villages were almost 40 kms and the road between the villages, through this forest, is seldom used which makes it the National Highway for the snakes and no street lights. As the forest was thick, neither would the moonlight touch the road. We were not able to find a single soul in the roads between the villages. One advice for anyone taking this alternative route in the evening - last dinner stop could be at Sirsi.
