Mode of Transport: Taxi

I am a local resident of Gangtok and while traveling from Darjeeling to Gangtok you can see the beautiful river Teesta on the way, the mighty Kanchenjunga. The valley of Peschock, the beautiful valleys. It's very good as you go down and the roads are very curved and the good views. Dont forget your camera.

Tata Sumo ride from Darjeeling to Gangtok enroute Kalimpong

Mode of Transport: Taxi

Lots and lots of narrow curvy roads along with forest trail hopping through villages. Very beautiful landscape and valleys along the way. Will witness lots of army campus. Very likely to encounter some traffic jam in the city because of narrow roads and many vehicles. People are patient and they wait till things are cleared.

Good memorable journey and roads in good condition

May 21, 2015
Mode of Transport: Taxi

I never expected that the journey would be so romantic as the roads are very narrow with deadly curves and cuts. I love the travel more because I spend my quality times with my life partner while travelling on the hilly areas following the river banks. On the way the food is not so good but eatable and expensive.

Not so good roads

Nov 10, 2014
Mode of Transport: Taxi

The distance is around 110 km but journey by road takes 4 and 1/2 hours. The roads are not so good in September due to rains. The lakes and rivers are plenty and full flowing. In rainy season on the way to airport, please travel an hour earlier in case of any land slides and road wash outs. However the same is cleared in normally 30-40 min. Please carry extra food and water during journeys as a stand by arrangement.
