Convenient overnight journey

Feb 4, 2016
Mode of Transport: Train

Boarded the train in the night at Bangalore and reached Kottayam by 10 in the morning. We had RAC tickets which were confirmed for seats that did not exist. Fortunately we had a good ticket inspector who sorted things out and we had a good trip. Not many options for breakfast. The glass is the AC compartment was foggy - so though the view outside in the morning was beautiful, I did not get to see too much!

Its a complete AC train; no water & refreshments available in the train

Aug 8, 2014
Mode of Transport: Train

Train was half an hour delayed and the price was reasonable and they had only AC compartments. The seat were in good condition, had a good sleep, the route does not provide as such great views and it does not pass through any interesting places or stations. You wont get vada pav, chaat and all while travelling to Kerala, yeah we will be getting tea and idli.

The toilets were clean, but we need to pay some cash for pillow and sheets. They wont provide water and refreshments in the train. We can get water and refreshments from stations. There was no harassment, but the train does not run every day.

Carry your own bed roll as you have to pay extra to avail bed-sheet in this train

Apr 30, 2014
Mode of Transport: Train

We took 12257/Yesvantpur-Kochuveli Garib Rath Express train to reach Kottayam. Nearest train station to Kottayam is Ernakulam from their its about two hour journey. One has to book ticket well in advance atleast a month earlier. We have booked ticket two months before the journey. Better to carry bed sheet and blanket or while booking the ticket pay 20INR extra and you can avail them at compartment. Carrying packed food is better idea.

Average journey, was forced to travel in intercity train

Mode of Transport: Train

I was forced to travel in a intercity like train. Get an advanced reservation preferably in A/C Chair car if you are travelling in this train. Better to travel on a working day to avoid rush. Get down at Aluva and take a taxi to kottayam. Other wise get an advanced booking in some trains which has sleeper. There are so many trains which passes through kottayam.

Bad bus operator and not a pleasant experience

Jul 20, 2015
Mode of Transport: Bus

Kallada Travels is becoming hopeless, they take the passengers for granted and squeeze enough money. They stop at places where the food is costly, the whole area is full of thieves. More than fifty percent of times there are chances of the bus breaking down in the middle of the travel, mostly during early morning or midnight. And most of the times they reach late and sometimes they don't even drop the people at the scheduled drop point, they take the whole thing for granted and do as they like.
