The travel distance from Amritsar to Manali is about 450 Km but it takes 13-14 hrs by road. The road after Pathankot passes through hills. Roads are narrow, make sure you hire experienced driver. There are many road side dhaba and restaurant for local food. Start early from Amritsar to avoid night travel in hill area.

It was very good journey by car. From the car you could see hills and mountains very clearly. I enjoyed travelling by car. It was an awesome journey. The roads are well maintained. One can enjoy the journey up to the fullest such that too long journey appears as if it is too short. Beautiful scenes of nature enlightens the mind and soul. The travellers should take care of the land sliding as its very dangerous to travel in rains.

During my car travel, I had a very good experience at Kangra Tea Estate which is a good place to visit on my travel and I even visited zoo. Dhramsala is a good place with beautiful mountain views. We had a wonderful experience of all these places by hiring a taxi only.
