The train 18101 I. E. Tata jat express from Amritsar has been discontinued and instead we booked our tickets from Jalandhar cantt to Pathankot. Basically I was trying to book tickets based on travel guidance based on this site from Amritsar to Pathankot by train and then by car from thereon. But I was not able to get train ticket for this traain from Amritsar, hence I juggled to find where the train originates and which station near to Amritsar I can board this train for my journey, which happened to be Jalandhar cantt

I travel to Dalhousie from Amritsar by my own car twice a month. Because my two kids study at Dalhousie Public School. That's why I travel regularly on this route.

Amritsar to Pathankot road is very good but after Pathankot to Dalhousie road is very damaged road. Dunera is centre of this route but very traffic in this town so every time traffic jam & waste too much time.

Mode of Transport: Taxi

I booked a cab from www.amritsartaxirental.com owner Ram Sewak Singh, who is very friendly and soft spoken person. Whole tour was from Amritsar- Dalhousie- Khajiar- Amritsar was very comfortable.

Day-1
Left Amritsar by 10:00 am onwards to Dalhousie. We had Lunch at Mamas Restaurant (Good facility for refreshment and wash-rooms). We reached Dalhousie by 5:00 pm. We visited local Mall road on the first day.

Day-2
We left for Khajjiar by 10:00 am and returned from Khajjiar by 2:00 pm. We stopped by Kala top by 2:30 pm and left for Amritsar by 5:30 pm and reached Amritsar by 10:00 pm.

Must visit : Kala Top.

Advice to the traveller: Do not book hotels without validating the facility, since I booked Hotel Goher and it was the worst experience I ever had.

Good roads & plenty of dhabas and restaurants on the way

Sep 1, 2014
Mode of Transport: Car

I went to Dalhousie by car through Pathankot. The road is very good and is surrounded by greenery and springs, lovely sights all around. We went for Dalhousie in the morning and reached there by noon. We stopped twice on the way and had some refreshments. The pales, dhabas and restaurants are good on the way.
