Poor service, poor food, good location

3.9/7
Posted 5 Sep, 2016

I have stayed with Keys at Shirdi and Pune before this, and both those experiences were very good. Because of good prior experience, I did not give a second thought when I booked our rooms at the Keys Hotel in Tirupati. The location itself is pretty good. The hotel is just about 3-4 km from the Alamelu Manga Temple and about 6 km from the Govindarajaswamy temple. Even to go to Tirumala, this hotel is just about 1 km away from the start of the ghat. When we reached the hotel, our first surprise was that the card access to our room didn't work. We had to use a physical key to open the room each time. The rooms are pretty spacious and comfortable. Having settled in the room, we realized that there was no facility to make a cup of tea in the room. The tea/coffee sachets and kettle, which are standard in 3 star and higher hotels these days weren't available in the room. This was quite surprising since we've never faced this in any hotel across the country, and never in a Keys hotel before this. We had to request for a kettle and some tea sachets. The kettle which was sent was dirty, probably not cleaned after the previous use. There were no milk powder sachets sent. We asked for the kettle to be cleaned and replaced. The cleaned kettle never came back during our 2 night stay. Having reached late in the evening, we decided to have dinner in the hotel itself, and went to the in-house restaurant for dinner. That was clearly a bad choice. The food was really poor and barely palatable. The scaled 'Andhra Meals' did not have pickle, gongura etc. Which are standard in any Andhra meal anywhere else. We decided to avoid eating in the hotel after that. At 6. 25 am next morning, there was a ring on the doorbell to deliver tea sachets, without a kettle in the room !! Again, there was no milk powder sent. My in-laws, who stayed in the next room were luckier than us. They at least got a kettle and some tea sachets. When they asked for milk powder, they were told that the store being close, milk powder could not be delivered. We abandoned all hopes of having tea in the room, and simply headed down for the breakfast 'buffet'. The breakfast spread could not really be described as a buffet. Since we were in a hurry to get to Tirumala and get into the line for darshan, we just gobbled what we could and left early. Once again, getting 3 cups of coffee took about 15 minutes and at least 4 reminders. This was despite the restaurant being barely half full. That evening, when my in laws asked for some more tea sachets, they were told that each room got only 2 in a day, and they couldn't get more. Next morning at breakfast, once again the coffee took ages to come. The toaster wouldn't work, so we could not have toast. Overall, the staff didn't seem interested in making the stay enjoyable for any guest. After this stay, I don't think I'm going to stay with Keys again. For people visiting Tirupati, I would strongly recommend not to stay at the Keys.

Spacious room and good quality food

6.0/7
Posted 16 Oct, 2014

The room tariff was started around Rs. 3000 per day. Room was spacious, neat and comfortable, has an AC, TV and geyser facility in the room. Staff were good, polite, very caring and co-operative and there was 24 hours staff service. I stayed there with family for temple visit. It is a 3 star hotel, located near to the bus stand and very convenient to find out. Hotel appearance was very good and the interior was very well decorated. The room was booked by direct and there was no problem while check-in and check-out. They provided food, the quality and taste of the food was very good. If required they arrange a vehicle for sightseeing places, but there were no activities. The hotel room tariff was value for money and it is recommendable to others.

Well-located & service was excellent

6.6/7
Posted 21 Jan, 2016

On December I planned a Trip to Thirupathi, for my family including my wife and son. We booked a room at Hotel Keys Vihas, Thirupathi. I went by car from Kollam. The Hotel was situated in a convenient place along Thirumala Bypass Road I liked the ambience of the Hotel. The service was very good. When I reached Salem the Hotel people called and inquired about my journey. So they had directed me to the hotel, without no hassles. When I reached Hotel, everything was ready, the room was very good and neat. My son liked the Hotel and Staff very much. The Travel Desk helped me a lot in the darshan at Thiurmala and directed me to all nearby places The most highlighted one is the Restaurant of the Hotel. We stayed there for 2 days, and tasted all most all South Indian Foods including Veg & Non Veg. They had given a proper for my car, as it had covered almost 1, 000 kiliometres in a single day. The staff of every department was very keen to help us throughout our stay HolidayIQ helped me to find this Hotel. Thanks for the lead to the HolidayIQ Team. The WiFi connectivity is the only problem I faced, and the signal strength was very feeble.
